The training plan outlined is designed for individuals in the age group of 60-64 who are aiming to qualify for the Boston Marathon. It is tailored for experienced marathon runners who wish to perform well and potentially improve their finishing time. The program includes elements such as speed work, long runs, fartleks, tempo runs, track speed sessions, and designated recovery days.

Participants should be capable of starting the training with a 10-mile long run and be able to cover 30 miles in the first week of training. The longest weekly long run is set at 21 miles, and the first week includes a total of 41 miles. Individuals are expected to run at least 5 days a week as part of the training regimen. It is essential that participants have prior marathon running experience, having completed at least three marathons and possessing several years of running background.

To qualify for this training program, participants should be able to run a marathon within 25 minutes or less of the qualifying time for the Boston Marathon in their age group (60-64).
