The training is designed for individuals who have qualified for the Boston Marathon in the age group of 55-59 and are interested in running strong and potentially improving their time. This training program includes speed work and is tailored for individuals who can begin with a 10-mile long run and progress to running 33 miles in the first week of training.

The training plan consists of various types of runs, including long runs, fartleks, tempo runs, track speed workouts, and designated recovery days. The weekly long run distances range from 10 miles in the first week to a maximum of 22 miles. Participants are expected to be able to run 5 days a week and should possess marathon running experience, having completed more than 3 marathons.

To qualify for this training program, individuals should have years of experience in running and have achieved a qualifying time within 25 minutes of the Boston Marathon age qualification time for the 55-59 age group. The training plan is specifically tailored based on the individual's Boston Marathon age qualification time.
