Plan Description
This 24 week training plan follows the three pillars of Alpine Athletics approach to preparing for success in the mountains: physical, mental, and tactical. The plan lets you work on your own and request guidance from your coach when you need it.
To track your fitness, a connection between Training Peaks and a smart watch (that records heart rate) is required.
This plan assumes that you expedition pack weight will not exceed 30% of your body weight. If you pack weight will be greater, you'll need to begin carrying weight earlier in the program and gradually increase it until you're comfortable carrying the expedition pack weight on steep terrain.
This plan also includes sled/tire drags to prepare climbers for summits in Alaska and Antarctica. If your climb doesn't include dragging a sled, you can omit these workouts.
