About The Junior Winter Training Plan for MTB From Consummate Athlete



This plan is a flexible plan that incorporates skills, intensity, strength, and volume appropriate for under 18 year old athletes looking to follow a plan for their off-season base (General Preparation)

The athlete should add team sports, school sports and lots of active unstructured play on top of this structure, and in some cases in place of the structure. Guidance for these substitutions (called 'OR' workouts) is given in the plan.



Is This Junior Base Off-Road Cycling Plan For You?

This plan is designed for a younger athlete. The plan is meant to be started early in the calendar year so that you are ready for spring and has more indoor-trainer and cross-training and strength for this reason.

The plan is Heart Rate and RPE(Feeling) based, the latter concept is very important for juniors to learn and develop to carry them through their career on their own individual progression and to guide their racing performance.



What Does this Junior MTB and Off-Road Cycling Base Plan Include?



  • Guidance and 'notes' on nutrition, strength and volume.

  • Structured Workout Downloads are included for *many* bike workouts ( for Garmin / Zwift Etc )

  • Many Workouts that can be done indoors if desired/required

  • Core routine and 1-2 weekly yoga sessions are provided and encouraged throughout the plan
