Are you preparing for the Half Distance Triathlon in Western Massachusetts? This race is renowned for its fast swim, scenic bike course, and rolling run route through Forest Park. To thrive on race day, you need more than ambition—you need a proven plan built around the course's unique demands.

Our Beginner's Six-Month Half Distance Triathlon Training Plan is specifically designed to guide first-time and developing triathletes to success in this standout event. With a structured, progressive approach, you’ll build endurance, sharpen technique, and gain the confidence needed to perform at your best.

✅ Course-Specific Preparation
Train with purpose using a plan that mirrors the Western Mass terrain:

🏊‍♂️ Swim: Master open-water pacing for the point-to-point 1.2-mile Connecticut River swim—ranked the 4th fastest in North America

🚴‍♀️ Bike: Build strength and stamina to handle 56 miles of smooth pavement, rolling countryside, and moderate elevation gains

🏃‍♂️ Run: Tackle 13.1 miles of rolling hills with targeted sessions designed to help you finish strong through Forest Park

✅ Progressive Weekly Volume
Start with just 7 hours per week and gradually build to 12 hours by week 19—ideal for busy athletes balancing training with life.

Each week includes structured swim drills, bike intervals, and run workouts that develop aerobic efficiency, VO2 max, and anaerobic threshold—key for managing the Western Mass course.
