About the 44-Week Beginner Training Plan
Engineered for first-time half distance athletes, this plan is your step-by-step guide to racing strong and finishing proud in Valencia. No endless base miles. No guesswork. Just smart, progressive training that works.

🔸 Weeks 1–12: Build Your Base We start with 12 weeks of targeted base training—designed to develop your aerobic engine, functional strength, and efficiency in all three disciplines. You’ll refine swim technique, strengthen run form, and prepare your body for what’s ahead.

🔸 Weeks 13–44: Go All In From week 13 onward, the focus shifts to the full Half Distance build. You’ll progress from 9.5 hours of training per week to a peak of 14 hours by week 39. Expect focused sessions that include:

VO2 Intervals to boost speed and power on the bike and run

Anaerobic threshold training to improve your endurance under pressure

Open water swim simulations so you’re ready for Valencia’s Marina course
