Valencia is more than a race — it’s a destination triathlon set in one of Spain’s most vibrant cities. From the calm Marina swim to the stunning Sierra Calderona bike course and the scenic Túria River run, the Half Distance Triathlon Valencia delivers a fast yet challenging experience. To master this event, you need a structured plan built for performance. This 36-week Intermediate Training Plan is engineered for athletes like you.

🔥 Phase 1: 12 Weeks of Foundation
Start strong with a progressive endurance base that primes your body for peak adaptation. Whether you're building back or starting fresh, this phase includes aerobic development, mobility work, and early strength training to prevent injury and set your fitness trajectory.

💪 Strength + Speed Synergy
Valencia’s mixed terrain demands power and efficiency. That’s why we integrate strength work early and continue it through key phases of training. You’ll also be introduced to VO2 interval sessions by Week 7 to boost your cardiovascular capacity right when your body is ready.

🌊 Phase 2: 24 Weeks of Focused Half Distance Training
Beginning in Week 13, volume and intensity ramp up with a clear path — peaking around 12.5 hours/week. You’ll train specifically for:

Open water confidence in Marina de Valencia conditions

Sustained efforts for 800m of bike elevation

Pacing mastery for the two-lap river run

Structured brick sessions to sharpen transitions and fatigue resistance
