Plan Description
A plan for a relatively new triathlete, perhaps one with a history of running or cycling an a fair level of base fitness. The average training week is about 7 to 8 hours but that increases to just over 10 hours in the biggest weeks. The aim is for you to enjoy the day, you can probably get round the course with less training but I want you to enjoy the day and become hooked on triathlon!
For your swim sessions, I would suggest that you try to find a local triathlon club, masters swim group or even just a group of friends. Swimming is easier with an expert coach to look at your technique but also easier with company.
My theory in setting the weeks plans is Evolution not Revolution, push steadily harder each week, bit of time to recover and then push a bit harder. No big changes, nothing dramatic, just consistent effort and hard work
