An endurance coach since 1980, Joe Friel has worked with triathletes, cyclists, and runners around the globe. He trains coaches and assists various national federations and national Olympic team staff. He also consults with professional athletes and sports-related businesses. Joe Friel began coaching endurance athletes in 1980. His clients have included novice-to-elite amateur and professional road cyclists, mountain bikers, triathletes, duathletes, and runners. They have been from all corners of the globe and included American and foreign national champions, world championship competitors, and an Olympian.
He holds a masters degree in exercise science. He is also the past Chairman of the USA Triathlon National Coaching Commission which he helped to found.
Joe is the author of 17 popular training books including The Cyclist's Training Bible, The Triathlete's Training Bible, Triathlon: Going Long (co-author), The Power Meter Handbook, Fast After 50, and many more.
