Plan Description

Foundations is a 3 part training program that takes place over approximately 9 months. It is intended for the military athlete looking to improve their overall fitness and resiliency. Foundations use a methodology and framework that was originally developed by Evoke Endurance and its founder Scott Johnston, author of the books that revolutionized training for mountain sports, Training for the New Alpinism and Training for the Uphill Athlete, and has since been adopted and used with great success by many high performing service members to include members of Tier-1 units, SOF Selection pipelines, and Best Ranger competitors and winners.
The Foundations plan is suitable for:
Any military athlete looking to improve their overall fitness, strength, and resiliency.
Military and tactical members preparing for pre-selection testing and selection pipelines (we recommend completing Foundations and/or having a strong base of aerobic training and overall fitness prior to our Selection Prep plan).
Those preparing for initial entry training with Special Operations contracts (ex 18X-ray, AFSOC, SEAL/SWCC)
Hunters: the same need for a strong, resilient body with a well developed aerobic capacity that can carry loads steadily over a distance.
What is the difference between the Foundations and Selection Prep plans?
The Foundations plan is a much longer and more progressive plan designed to establish a solid baseline of volume and fitness. Aerobic capacity and training volume take time to establish, there is no shortcut, hence the 9 month duration. The Selection Prep plan is a 14 week “finishing course” designed to sharpen and taper an athlete prior to a Selection - we do not advise attempting the Selection Prep plan without a strong base of aerobic capacity and overall fitness. Ideally the Selection Prep plan would be used as the final trainup after completing the Foundations plan (perhaps multiple times).
