Plan Description

Cyclocross is HARD. Well, the racing is hard, and the training can be intense, but the hardest part physically, we think, is preparing for CX. Ideally you get REALLY FORKING FIT in the summer ahead of your CX season, and then you spend CX season losing some of that fitness but remaining rested for your weekend races. If you’re doing it right, you get faster throughout the season while slowly losing your big picture fitness, like a balloon slowly deflating but somehow also turning into a sharp knife at the same time. Did anyone read that sentence? No? Good. But if you did read it maybe you get the idea. So don’t worry too much about the fact that your summer training is more aerobic at first and seems to be focused on base-buildling. That is intentional. The thing that will allow you to have a great CX season is starting from a place of very high fitness.

This plan will help you get really fit for cyclocross, and then bridge the gap from that place of high fitness into the fall racing season. We provide assistance and guidance for racing deeper into the season in the PDF.
