One of my favorite things to do in this life is to go for a long mountain bike ride. When I first started mountain bike racing this is exactly what I did for training – I just went out and rode along. This was a lot of fun and made me quite fit. However when the racing bug had really taken hold of me I wanted to be not only fit but also fast. I hired Joe Friel to coach me, followed a structured training program and added a lot of speed to my fitness.
I enjoy leading athletes through this change from being a fit rider to a fast rider and have been coaching now for over 10 years. Here are a few of my credentials and accomplishments I am proud of.
- Cycling Coach, USA Cycling Elite Level Certified
- Triathlon Coach, USA Triathlon Level II Certified
- Ultrafit Associate
- Author of book "The Triathlete's Guide to Bike Training" published by Velo Press
- Contributor to Inside Triathlon, Velo News, Active.com.

My coaching philosophy is a mix of scientific principles and athlete joy. Power meters and other training tools are awesome to track and plan specific training but athlete enjoyment is also a crucial part of the formula for success.
If you have any questions about any of the mountain bike training plan send me an e mail Lynda@LWcoaching.com on my forum at www.lwcoaching.com. I will answer right away – unless I am out riding!
